This Detroit shop stocks high-quality, affordable bikes from trusted brands and backs each sale with expert assembly by trained mechanics. Same-day accessory purchases are fitted at no charge, and every new bike leaves with a complimentary bottle cage and water bottle, bell, or spare tube. Beyond bicycles, the store carries a wide range of gear—tubes, helmets, locks, city-friendly tires, and more—so riders can outfit themselves completely before hitting the streets.

Wheelhouse Detroit began in 2008 when Detroit residents Kelli Kavanaugh and Karen Gage—already active in cycling events like Tour de Troit—opened a bike-rental shop during the Detroit RiverWalk’s revitalization. Their venture quickly grew beyond rentals and repairs, adding guided historical tours that highlight the city’s diverse neighborhoods and rich heritage. In 2015, Kavanaugh became sole owner, continuing to expand Wheelhouse’s tour offerings while maintaining its commitment to cycling culture.
