About:
Urban Cycles
Urban AdvenTours operates two storefronts in Boston’s Historic North End—a tour-and-rental center at 103 Atlantic Avenue and a full bike shop at 109 Atlantic Avenue—after growing from founder Andrew Prescott’s apartment-based tours begun in 2004. The company still leads its signature history-rich rides daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with an evening departure at 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Visitors can rent Kona Dew Boston hybrids or higher-spec models, browse new and used bikes, stock up on apparel and gear, or rely on in-house mechanics for repairs and tune-ups.
Welcoming staff who act as “bike concierges,” Urban AdvenTours pairs local insight with a strong environmental ethic—“burn carbs, not carbon.” The business repurposes fixtures, sells sustainably sourced goods, and delivers by BioBus, a van powered by recycled vegetable oil. Its commitment to greener transport has earned Bike Friendly Business awards from both the City of Boston and the League of American Bicyclists.
