Nichols has long been a gathering place for skiers of all experience levels, from first-timers to lifelong enthusiasts. The business traces its roots to the 1940s, when Tom Nichols Sr. ran a small hardware store in East Dearborn. In 1954, his son Tom discovered a passion for skiing and convinced his father to dedicate part of the shop to ski equipment—an idea that quickly took off after their first $10,000 order sold out in weeks. Today, Nichols continues that same family spirit, treating every piece of gear with care and preparing it as if it were their own.
